Taking a break from posting August 9, 2010

I have decided to take a break from posting for awhile. Writing for this blog is mostly a hobby for me, so I wasn’t prepared for the difficulties that I would encounter from having a blog. I have recently had to blacklist a commenter because the person’s views were so divergent from mainstream Christian beliefs. I did not feel comfortable doing this. I would have liked to be able to talk to the person in a manner which would be beneficial to the both of us.

I would like to take time to think about the blog and what its purpose is. I am concerned that the original purpose I had for the blog is beyond my capability to write about. The Christian aspect of my blog is not adequately served because I do not have enough theological training to be able to debate someone concerning Christianity.

I do not have much original material on my blog. I mostly comment on other people’s posts or articles. If you would like to see a glimpse of what I would have posted if I did not take a break, simply visit Biblical Manhood for MRA (Men’s Rights Activist) and MGTOW (Men Go Their Own Way) material. Also, visit WordPress’s Christianity tag surfer. Those are my main sources of material.

I wish you all good reading.

I hope you don’t flat out quit. I think you have good stuff and are on a good track. It takes awhile for a blog to find its place. Mine started out as a homemaking one, but when I find so many interesting articles (regardless of topic) I feel compelled to write on them. I write on whatever moves me, and what I write just happens to come from a Christian perspective. It is a hobby for me too, a passionate one. It can be burdensome and tiring though. When I wasn’t’ working I was doing about a post a day. Now I like to try to shoot for 3 a week. Any less than that and I think people loose interest. You will get a lot of difficult/nasty commenter, if for no other reason than just being a professing Christian. You will get used to it. Hang in there!

I don’t think you need a theological training to speak of the subjects you do. 2 Tim. 3:16-17 says that scripture alone is enough. Don’t need a fancy degree. You aren’t pretending to be a pastor or what not. It is very tiring though to do a theology geared post every time. Maybe do one deep post a week and the rest just general thoughts on matters. They can be short. Sometimes I get my best comments from one simple paragraph post. I also don’t think there is anything wrong with reposting articles, etc. I sometimes think I should post more original content.. After long work days, home duties, etc., sometimes there just isn’t the mental energy. Reposting articles is a great way to get your thoughts out there in an abbreviated form.

In dealing with other Christians (or anyone), I have learned that sometimes the best answer is no answer. I know there is a book titled, “Lord, save me from your followers”. How true that is at times. I like what Titus 3:10 says, “Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him.” Do your best in defending the Faith, but sometimes there is only so much you can do, without the Holy Spirit also stepping in.

I also think you can create a neat niche by being a Christian MRA. Don’t see as many of those. Anyway, Hang in there, it takes time to get a feel for what you are doing. Eventually it will take on a life of its own.

I’m with Laura, a truly Christian MRA is a good voice to express.

Sometimes, you have to delete incoherent, off-topic commenters, and refuse to answer them. That helps run off trolls.

Hope you come back soon…
